Urban decay is rife in today’s mega-cities and Tehran is no exception. The extent of damage to Tehran’s urban core is so substantial that the Ministry of Urbanism has extensively mapped the damaged sites in 14 of the city’s 22 districts. Mapping cities in the digital age however, is an on going and never-ending process of narrating, symbolizing, visualizing, and challenging a set of relations in an urban environment. Building Density variation in different parts of Tehran, ignited us to think of these discrepancies. Some parts of our city are densely stacked and the others convey low density. We thought of balancing these regions so that to generate a moderate environment. Our most dominant goal in this project is to create an easy-to-use tool suitable for different range groups. Not only can we use “Voxel City” to communicate with clients in urban design issues but we can also apply it in urban design educational fields. We defined simple cubes to present the density of the city applying them on the 10*10 cm main grid and 2*2 cm grids to prepare the context for the cubes. The assembled cubes represent the city with predefined rules .
